Since I haven't blogged in quite awhile, I had to really brainstorm. I decided to make my own list of the best things that happened in 2011. Yes, I know that everyone else did this weeks ago. But I'm doing it now and I assure you that my list will be much better because well, I am better :)
1. All of the revolutions and protests... I don't care if you support Occupy Wall Street or not, at least people are doing something. And while sleeping in parks and protesting for months at a time won't help you find a job so you aren't part of the 99% anymore, at least it might help change something bigger than just that one person. Also the Egyptian protests were pretty intense and ultimately led to Mubarak resigning. And pretty cool that the whole thing was orchestrated through social media. Several other countries played host to protests as well.
2. Weather related occurrences. The Japan earthquake and tsunami were crazy and until they happened I thought whirlpools just happened in movies, not actually in real life. There were also a lot of tornadoes that ripped through the US and pretty much flattened Joplin, Mo.
3. The Royal Wedding. Yeah, I watched it. And while I always thought that Prince William was sexy, Prince Harry has turned into a bit of a fox himself. At least when he isn't all cracked out. After watching their wedding, I decided when I get married I want all the ladies to wear a Fascinator or the hat things. Hope you get invited to my wedding :)
4. Well there was a wedding and then there was a divorce. Kim Kardashian's divorce from Kris Humphries. I'm not sure why, but I feel like this needs a place on my list. Deal with it.
5. Osama Bin Laden's death. People running through the streets screaming America and shooting off fireworks. Enough said.
6. Since this is my list and no one else has any input, the final Harry Potter movie. For many people, it was like the end of an era. I spent at least 10 years reading and rereading the books and going to midnight premiers. I'm not ashamed to say I follow fake characters on Twitter. I'll also lump the other best movies of 2011 in this one. Bridesmaids. If it makes me laugh so hard I cry, its good. And Transformers, mmmm Shia. The Help, War Horse and several others also make this list.
7. Charlie Sheen. From now on, everyone is "winning" and drinking "tiger blood."
8. Sophia Grace singing Super Bass. Then ending up on Ellen and meeting Nicki Minaj. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=C7hTAp6KrGY
9. Jenna Marbles. If I could have a career blogging, vlogging, and making random YouTube videos, consider it done.
10. The 10th Anniversary of 9/11. I think most people old enough to remember that day won't ever forget where they were and what they were doing. I was at Aquin Elementary School. We had just started math class and I was in Mrs. Casey's class.
11. Steve Jobs death. I feel like I had to include this one just because so many people freaked out when he died. That and I also felt like having 11 things for 2011. But he is responsible for creating one of the largest most lucrative brands so I'll let him slide onto my list I suppose.
Hope you enjoyed! Until we meet again blogosphere!
